BARRY L. ABBOTT was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1964. Mr. Abbott is a 1988 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the United States Army Reserves upon his graduation and served in the Army Reserves for 8 years. Mr. Abbott is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm where his unit supported the 101^st Airborne Division as a Civil Affairs Officer. Mr. Abbott graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in December of 1991 and began his practice of law in Chattanooga in the spring of 1992.

Mr. Abbott has litigation and appellate experience in both Federal and State Courts from cases originating in the Chattanooga area. Mr. Abbott served as co-counsel in the defense of a $115 million class action civil RICO lawsuit and has served as sole or lead counsel in numerous commercial disputes. Mr. Abbott devotes his time exclusively to litigation matters. Mr. Abbott's practice is largely devoted to general commercial disputes with a heavy emphasis in matters concerning real property issues. Cavett & Abbott, PLLC serves as local counsel for First American Title Insurance Company, Stewart Title Insurance Company as well as a number of other title insurance and real estate firms. Mr. Abbott also serves as the Managing Partner for the firm.
