JOHN C. CAVETT, JR. was born in Asheville, N.C. in 1954. He grew up in Chattanooga, TN. He is a 1977 graduate of the University of the South (Sewanee) and a 1981 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Law. Mr. Cavett has litigation, appellate and administrative practice experience in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. He has extensive experience in the areas of criminal defense and real estate litigation. He has represented clients in criminal cases in both state courts and federal courts in Tennessee and Florida. He has extensive experience practicing in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and has filed applications for certiorari in the United States Supreme Court. He has handled a wide variety of criminal cases and has been counsel in four death penalty cases. His real estate litigation experience encompasses issues involving boundary disputes, delinquent tax sales, easement and roadway cases, adverse possession and prescriptive easements, construction litigation, contract disputes, restrictive covenant cases and title insurance claims. His clients include real estate agents and brokers, surveyors, banks and title insurance agencies and underwriters, building contractors, homeowners associations and various real estate title holders.
